Biography:


William Shakespeare is a 16th century British poet, playwright and writer. His date of birth is unknown, but his date of baptism dates back to April 26, 1564 in a town in central England:

Stratford-upon-Avon. The author died there on April 23, 1616. He was one of the most translated authors in the world.

William Shakespeare was born to John Shakespeare, son of a peasant, and Mary Arden, daughter of an aristocrat. He lived in a privileged environment and attended the good schools of Stratford, where the family lived. Young William was a brilliant student of language, literature, and loved rhetoric.

Shakespeare participated in the democratization and modernization of 16th century English theater. The playwright offers a theatrical style that differs from moralities. Main theatrical genre of the time, it aimed to show people how to behave. Shakespeare gave way to human passions, symbolism, and put forward the psychology of his characters.

His dramas have inspired many later authors, writers, musicians, filmmakers. The adaptations of his works are numerous. The author’s main plays are Hamlet Prince of Denmark, Romeo and Juliet, La nuit des Rois, Macbeth.
